Many of the stories in the trail foreground specific relationships that the focal animal species is involved in. Perhaps the animal has great cultural significance for a local human community, or it plays an important role pollinating plants. But the relationships that each story focuses on are only some of the many ecological and cultural (or eco-cultural) connections that the species has.
Select one of the animals discussed in the trail—or choose another animal—and draw the web of relationships that it is part of. You might think about all the diverse creatures and communities—human and nonhuman—that this animal relies on or matters to. Think too about the plants and habitats it relies on to survive.
