Many of the stories draw connections to myths, fables or other cultural storytelling that feature animals. Think about how animals feature in your own cultural heritage – how do animals appear in the fairytales and stories of your childhood? 

What kinds of animals are more commonly present? How are we encouraged to think about and value them? Are they agents in their own right or considered primarily for what they mean to, or can do for, humans?
