Blake Lawrence’s story ‘Echinoderms’ invites us to think about what brittle-stars might teach us about connecting to our own bodies. Choose an animal that you feel connected to in some way. Find a space where you feel safe and comfortable, and close your eyes. Imagine you are inhabiting the body of that creature and start to move as it would. You could choose music that suits the kinds of movement your creature might make, or something that inspires you to move your body freely. You might choose to do this exercise with other people – you don’t have to take this exercise too seriously, the point is to explore and enjoy yourself.
